Social Activities During Hunt Week 2023
The plan for the week is to have lots of fun, socialise and meet lots of new and known faces and generally have a great time in Middlemarch, Otago.
The Barndance
Monday 3rd April, 7pm at a local Historic Woolshed, Cottesbrook. This will be the venue for the evening meal that night. Buses will run from the Showgrounds. BYO alcohol. A 2 piece band will entertain us for the night.
The Ball
Wednesday 5th April. Doors Open 5.45pm
Winning Post Lounge, Wingatui Racecourse - after the Hound Show
Formal Dress
Ticket includes seated 3 course meal, complimentary drink on arrival, entertainment, 5 piece band
A Cash bar will be operating
Buses will run to and from Middlemarch
There is plenty of room to park your horse truck at this venue if you want to bring yourselves down.
Trip Day
Monday 3rd April will offer various trips to fill in your day and showcase the local area. We are offering the following options:
A tour through Macraes Goldmine
A Curling Opportunity
A 4WD trip
A Garden Tour
Claybird Shooting
These will run between 10am and 3pm
Lunch is included in the price for all trips
Gin tasting will be happening about 5pm before heading off to the barndance at a fun venue!!!

The Marquee and Meals
The Middlemarch Community Centre and the Marquee will be the main social hub for the week. You will get 2 course Evening meals here Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 7 and 8pm. These will be included in the cap price as will the pre hunt breakfasts and the "snack" after the Hunts.
A licensed cash bar will also be here in the marquee. We are lucky to have the help of Kim Clifford Distillery and the local Rugby Club to cater for your "liquid" refreshments, at very reasonable prices.
Food will be catered by various groups in the local community - Lions, Swimming Club, Hockey Club, PTA, Golf Club.
Thursday Evening, Otago Hunt will be putting on a BBQ, to thank you for attending our Hunt Week. Well priced cocktails will be available at the bar Thursday night and the local Young Farmers Club will be the chefs!!!
There will be plenty of space to park trucks up and stay each night to save drink driving. A van will be available to run others back to their accommodation if needed.
This area will also have the facilities to fill water tanks and empty grey tanks. A shower trailer will be on site too for those who need it.
